Principal of Engineering
Charlie Stauffer, PE is the Principal of Engineering at Intersect Power. He directs the firm's engineering and technical design efforts, as well as strategy for our entire portfolio.
Charlie brings broad and deep technical knowledge to the team. He is a multi-lingual Electrical Engineer with international management experience and over nine years of experience in developing, designing, constructing, and maintaining over four gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale solar and wind facilities in North and South America. Charlie's focus is particularly on interconnection, electrical facility design and optimization (high voltage [HV] to low voltage[LV]), technology diligence, photovoltaic performance, layout, and siting strategy.
Prior to joining Intersect Power, Charlie was Principal Transmission Engineer at Recurrent Energy, leading interconnection, high-voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) design, electrical construction, inverter qualification, and the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) control system architecture. Earlier, Charlie was Engineering Group Manager at Nordex Windpower, where he was responsible for providing engineering support on 1.2GW of installed wind generation, and led the project engineering for 400 megawatts (MW) of new wind farm construction. Charlie started his career in renewables as a Sr. Electrical Engineer at Xantrex Technology (now Schneider Electric), where he was responsible for the design and upkeep of 750MW of wind power inverters.
Charlie holds a professional engineering (PE) license in California, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has received a Professional Certification for Power Electronics from University of Colorado, Boulder, and is nearing completion of his Transmission and Distribution Professional Certification from Gonzaga University.
