Charlie Stauffer, PE is the Principal of Engineering at Intersect Power. He directs the firm’s engineering and technical design efforts, as well as strategy for our entire portfolio.
Charlie brings broad and deep technical knowledge to the team. He is a multi-lingual Electrical Engineer with international management experience and has spent over twelve years designing, constructing, and operating over 5.4GW and developing over 7.4GW of utility-scale solar and wind facilities in North and South America. Charlie focuses in particular on interconnection, LMP/SCED, electrical facility design and optimization (HV/MV/LV), battery storage, technology diligence, photovoltaic performance, layout, civil, and siting strategy.
Prior to joining Intersect Power, Charlie was Principal Transmission Engineer at Recurrent Energy, leading interconnection, high-voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) design, electrical construction, inverter qualification, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) control system architecture. Earlier, Charlie was Engineering Group Manager at Nordex Windpower, where he was responsible for providing engineering support on an operational fleet of 1.2GW of wind generation and led the project engineering for 400MW of new wind farm construction. Charlie started his career in renewables as a Sr. Electrical Engineer at Xantrex Technology (now Schneider Electric), where he was responsible for the design and upkeep of 750MW of operational wind power inverters.
Charlie holds a professional engineering (PE) license in California and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has received a Professional Certification for Power Electronics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is nearing completion of his Transmission and Distribution Professional Certification from Gonzaga University.
