Julia Collignon

Vice President, Construction

Julia Collignon is the Principal of Construction. She leads the strategy and execution of projects from late-stage development through NTP and COD.

Prior to joining Intersect, Julia worked at Tesla for nearly 4 years. She ran a geographically diverse team responsible for the installation of commercial and utility energy systems. This included estimating, siting, permitting, subcontractor procurement, contract negotiations and management, project management, construction management, and installation for sola- only, solar+storage, and storage-only projects. Customers included the public sector, Fortune 1000s, and utilities. During her time at Tesla, she built over 200MW of solar and contracted over 1GWh of storage. She personally managed one of the breakthrough utility-scale storage projects in 2016, a 20MW/80MWh battery for Southern California Edison, which was fully designed and constructed in under 4 months.

Prior to Tesla, Julia spent 8 years with SunPower working in project management and engineering where she supported over 2.5GW of solar projects, including some of the earliest utility scale projects in the industry. Some of her notable projects included Solar Star 1 and 2, a 579MW project sold to BHE Renewables for $2.5B in 2012. She was responsible for all technical aspects of development including permitting, engineering, interconnection, procurement, and construction. Julia spent the early years of her career as a structural engineer designing buildings ranging from town homes to stadiums and concert halls.

Julia is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds an M.S. in Engineering Management from UC Berkeley, and a BS in Civil Engineering from Union College.
